My ABS Light is on in my driver info ctr. I cleaned my wheel sensors and no luck. I removed the tray in the compartment behind the drivers seat to find the union block with all the brake lines going into it. Is this the problem? or is it the small black sensor with the wire connector going into it? My car is a 90 coupe Auto THANKS FOR ANY HELP Also how do you remove the black sensor with the wire connector? I don't want to break the holder or the wire connector. PIPE
ABS is tough to troubleshoot. I'm working on an ABS/ASR problem with my 1994. I was trying to check all the sensors but didn't find anything. I would start by getting the ABS trouble codes off the EBCM. I believe your car has On-Board diagnostics, so you can get the codes without an ABS scan tool. With the code you'll know where to look to fix the issue.
I don't know if this applies to your vette problem, but my '89 coupe abs light would come on when I would hit certain types of bumps. The problem was a bad terminal connection for the abs system at a terminal post near the battery. The solution was to clean the connector and arranged the connector so it wouldn't be affected or moved when the car hit any bumps.

The brake fluid is full. I pulled my wheel sensors out and cleaned them off they had some grease on em. Then reinstalled them and the ABS light stayed on. The driver info center only blinks out #12 three times. Thats only the check code. But no other codes appear. Do I need a special code scanner? pipe

Hey split-end, where is this terminal connection? My '89's ABS light stays on - maybe it's the same problem. Got any pics?
And pipe, yes there is a special scanner for the ABS system on these cars. It's listed in the GM service manual (I don't have it close to me, or I'd look it up).

The terminal is behind the battery near the side vents. You can find the terminal by tracing the cable from the abs wheel sensor to this terminal. Look for a threaded bolt with a nut clamping down several wire connectors.
I'm sorry, I don't have any pictures. I sold my '89 and bought a '96 CE.
