After leaving my beloved '93 polo green coupe sheltered during a recent vacation, the realization hit me that it hasn't been cranked and run for over 3 weeks! To my surprise the battery was good. It started easily.
Now I'm getting SES light, I didn't have before. Checked codes. It's a 36. MAF burn off relay. Because of the long hibernation. I tried to reset the ECM by disconnecting the -battery for about an hour. I tried to disconnect the plugs going to the sensors, one at a time, one on the breather, and the one just to the engine side. I still get the SES light. How should I proceed?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.
Have you replaced the relay? Don't know about 93, but when replacing
the MAF burnoff relay on an 87-it's recommended to replace the power relay as well.I don't think you can clear the code-or I should say it will rethrow the code if the relay is bad. These things are only about $20 for
both.
Thanks Rick. Where can I find this relay? When researching this I read there were 2 relays behind the battery on a L98. This problem must happen often in the L98, but saw no posts of this happening with a LT1. I don't know the location of these on my '93.
