I have a loud vibrating sound coming from the fuel tank that radiates up to below the passenger seat. The car wants to shut off unless you give it alot of gas. When engine is not running, you can feel the vibration on the gas cap fairly strong and hear it while in driver's seat. Is this a bad vane in the fuel pump and I just need to replace the pump, or could it be something else? Probably a silly question, but it has had so many things lately that seemed obvious to myself and others that turned out to be something simple. Thanks for the help now, in the past and in the future.
Sounds like you need a fuel pump; I would go with either the AC Delco or the NAPA. You will also need to get a new strainer. The install is very straight forward and should not take more then an hour. For good measure I would also change out the relay under the hood next to the firewall and the fuel filter.

Anything is possible, but I'm betting against the fuel pump. If the pump is weak, giving "it a lot of gas" isn't going to keep the car running. A weak pump wouldn't be able to meet the demand of revving the engine. How are you keeping the fuel pump running, when the car isn't? I'll bet a nickle to a donut the noise is coming from the from the ABS. After you get the brakes fixed you can start on the stalling problem.
