I need to replace the OEM Bilsteins on my 96 LT1 Convertible with the FE1 suspension. I have both RD racing bars and the optional hardtop. I am looking for a "euro" ride, firm yet compliant and hope to minimize or eliminate the "jiggles" from the structure, especially in the rear. I do not autocross, etc.
The choices are:
- Stock FE1 Bilsteins
- Convertible Z51 Bilsteins
- Edelbrock
- Any other reccommendations
It's too bad we can't see your full question before we vote.
I put the KYBs on my car last week. I only have the worn out originals to compare them to.
With that said they feel great.
I also have the RD Camber brace.
Check other post for opinions on KYB's. I switched a few months ago.
And I really like the new ride on the highway and bumby roads, the
handling was a bit (but not much) better with the stock schocks.

I have the KYBs and DO autocross and I'm pleased with them. I also have R-D's camber brace, cross frame and cross bar. The KYBs cured the shudder that I had w/ my original, albeit, worn out Bilsteins, and that was long before I had any of R-D's products installed. I've had them for probably over 25K miles and they're still working well. Bang for the buck, I doubt you can beat them. They're a very good compromise between ride and handling. BTW, I also have the FE1 suspension.
if you want to spend a little more $$, these are great!
I second that opinion. My car feels like a diffent animal since I installed these and no my previous shocks (stock Bilsteins and QA1s) were not bad. They are expensive, but the old saying you get what you pay for definitely applies in this case.
So what I am seeing is that Bilsteins are not the way to go. I guess the same goes for the Edelbrocks.
Where do I find the Konis for the least $$$$$$$$$$$$$?
Do a google search...probably the "best" price that you will find will be in the $550 area with shipping included. I know they are expensive, but IMHO worth it.
