Hi,
I have a 87 coupe with a 4+3 trans, on the drivers side of the trans thier is a large hex head bolt( I think it is to fill the trans fluid?).
The head of the bolt is welded or braized, not to the trans, just on the head of the bolt. Can any one tell me why it would be like that????
Thanks
Scott
Sounds like someone stripped the original fill plug which on my 85 and 88 was a four sided plug. I bought a 4 sided socket that fits it perfectly. This fill plug is on the drivers side just behind and slightly lower than an electrical connector you should see there. If you can not remove the regular fill plug you can pop out the electrical connector from the inside when the pan is dropped and refill through this hole, then just snap the electrical connector back in. Steel fill plugs that go into aluminum cases should always be coated with anti-seize paste.
