ok i have a 84 and i dont know how to change the antenna motor and antenna were do i get to them at? if i can get to tham im pretty sure it'll all be good from there
I changed mine on my 92 awhile back...and I'm not sure if yours is about the same as mine. Anyway, pull the left rear tire and inner fender well. That should open it up enough so you can get a good idea for removal from there. I removed both left tail lamp assy. which also gave me access to the back of the antenna unit. Good luck.

If you are lucky your antenna motor may be good and you may only need a new mast. If you hear the motor running when you power up the radio it is probably a broken mast ribbon. You can get the mast/ribbon assembly for a discount from Chris at Superior Chevy Wholesale Office - Parts Department 800-728-8267. The mast is pretty cheap, but a complete whole antenna motor assembly is a bit expensive. If you need a new motor too, I'd check around on price, but you'll probably get the best price on the whole thing from Chris also.
On my 88, I was able to pull the entire motor free and remove the broken ribbon without having to mess with the muffler. I have heard from others that it could be done without removing the rear wheel and liner, but it is a LOT easier if you do it with them off. I did mine in about 3 hours by myself, but it is a job where an extra pair of hands would have saved me a good bit of time and frustration. No trick tools are needed.
Remove inner fender and wheel and you will have easy access to the motor. You will need to wiggle your arm up to reach the plastic nut at the top of mast
I bought the $25 mast repair kit from GM to repair the broken nylon rod.
Heres a little GM insight on the power antenna from my 86 manual http://members.shaw.ca/agent86/Power%20Antenna.pdf
