Default Considering more HP

I have a stock 89 coupe w/ Z51 package, and 6 sp. I really like the car, and have so much money in it, I could not begin to get my money out of it. The only reason I would consider a newer car would be for the power. My car is in great condition. It would actually be cheaper to upgrade to a high output motor, headers and exhaust than buy a newer car such as a Z and chance putting more money into it to get it to the condition of mine.
I would like to have about 400+ hp. That is the easy part. What am I looking at as far as upgrades on the TPI, electronics, computer and such? I don't want to create a nightmare, but it must be possible to do and still have a nice weekend getaway car!

Thanks

moates has a computer program that lets you do all your tunning your self it is supposed to be pretty easy if you have a lap top. i havent used it but im going to buy it real soon. im not sure if there is much you can gain from tunning without modding the engine a bit. I forgot the web site sorry. i think its moates.net. someone will jump in and problably let you know.
