By the way; I HAD thought of beating it down with a stick, but that'd defeat the whole purpose!

For future ref. I found this out (by trying it)

Testing antenna out of vehicle;

ANT. UP;

Green wire to +12vdc
Grey wire to -12vdc

ANT. DOWN;

Green wire to -12vdc
White wire to +12vdc

Hey Smacko, glad you agree with rodj & me.

My original reply, post#3 "The three from the relay - green is the central wire to the motor and white takes the down power and grey the up."

post#4 rodj said "'87 service manual shows green as the common.
Gray+ / green- = Up
White + / green- = Down
"

looks like we all have the same antenna - my '88 service manual has the same pics as Agent 86

If your still there Agent 86, was there an easy way to get the manual on disk?

Yeah, but mine specifies where to put green wire to - it has to move from + to neg - it doesnt work by leaving Green on one polarity (But also the GM PDF from Agent86 tells u this in the diagram)

PS AGENT86 - I TOO would love a copy of what you have!

Woah!!!! I think you've got it a bit back to front !!

In my circuit diagram the green is NEGATIVE both times - also according to rodj

The Green is constant and not switched, it is the white and Grey that are switched, by the relay, in my circuit diagram -

Anyone else care to comment?

Noooo, as per my posting (& our phone chat) You'll note I say: "Testing antenna out of vehicle" - works this way, have done it 6 times now each way - different thing altogether when it's plugged back IN to car circuitry. But thanks for your concern mate

when you indicated you had an erection problem, i thought it had something to do with your "my corvette photos" - if that were my 85, i'd never wash my hood emblem again

anyway, good luck with the antenna

Believe it of not he is right.
If you trace back to the relay ,it is of the DPDT type and changes the polarity of the green depending apon position selected.
And I thought it was the XXXX.

HAHAHAHA!!!!!! Nah mate, no one here can understand a thing anyone says. thats why we call everyone "mate" so we can make them think we are not a hostile party, and therefore keep them in a calm state. When we want to understand each other, we generally use our fists.
