Default Erection Problems...

I AM talking about my power antenna of course!

Have just cleaned up the inside of my power antenna, having finally gotten around to replacing the ribbon. Trouble IS, after following the AC Delco instruction sheet - I am now left with 'my mast at full erection'!

Going to be real difficult unless I can get it DOWN before I attempt to reinstall it!

My haynes doesn't have the schematic diagram for what I need for my '85's antenna; 3 wires coming FROM power antenna - need to know voltage of each wire - colours are:

grey
white
green

I know 2 will be 12v neg & pos and assume 3rd is the pulse trigger from stereo 'pwr ant' (Which is pink according to haynes), tho obviously changes colour somewhere down the line. I assume it is around 5vdc, but may be wrong.

Any joy?
My antenna & I thank-you in anticipation

Hey Smacko - considering your car is in a million pieces at the moment, I don't know how you get on without the GM service manuals!!!

I'm not sure you're gonna get that car back together again!!! but I hope so.

As you know, mine's an 88, my manual says there are 5 connections to the antenna motor - 3 come from the relay - white Green and grey - same as yours, then there is a braided strap going to ground at G400(I'd guess the chassis somewhere close) and there is the antenna coax lead going to the radio.

The three from the relay - green is the central wire to the motor and white takes the down power and grey the up.

I'm not the world expert on reading these diagrams, so please will someone else chip in and confirm or explain?

Out of curiousity too; the front bearing in mine is metal, as opposed to plastic as the file states...Maybe an upgrade ?

I have no idea how to fix the erection problem. I thought the label advised, if you cannot get it to go down after 4 hours, go see a doctor! Anyway, I had to read the string after the great title. BTW, you guys down under talk wierd. Do you actually understand what each other are talking about?

Mate, no offence taken, you'd talk weird as well if your antenna was continuously erected !!
