Default C4 Weight reduction master list?

I've found quite a few threads on weight reduction, but nothing that would be called the "master list" and shows down to the bolt of what misc. stuff can be stripped. Does anyone have an entire list of everything to get an early model C4 under 3000 lbs and still be a street car (comfort in mind)? I thought I came across something like this a few months ago.... but i can find it. Thx.

Also, little off topic but I found a place that can build a completely forged 383 shortblock (using Eagle,SRP/JE) for $2399 and provide a year warranty on the parts and worksmanship. I priced all of the parts and work on the block and it would cost MORE to build the damn thing myself! Oh the power of buying in bulk. Anyone interrested pm me.

I'd LOVE to see a sticky on weight reduction. There have been some good threads in the past, but the search function doesn't consistently work...so you can't get at it when you need it.

If you can't get a sticky going, a Tech doc would be a good fallback point...or maybe one of the guys with websites could host a page. I would even be willing to setup a site and host it, if need be.

I can tell you that on a '95...

a. Replacing Exhaust manifolds & stock cats with Hooker 2151's drops 40lbs...scale-confirmed.

b. Replacing spare tire (leaving carrier on), jack, and lugnut wrench with Fix-a-flat provides a 33lb reduction...again scale-confirmed.

I have the A/C Delete bracket from More Performance, Inc. sitting in the garage, but haven't had the time to install yet. If you get a doc going, I will post my results when I get around to it. (Another CF Member recently reported a 38lb reduction by removing all A/C components and using this bracket.)

I plan to go to a Fidanza aluminum flywheel sometime over the winter, and will post those results as well.

Good luck getting a Master List going!

Lexan will scratch like a mother though.... i'm keeping the glass.... Man, that would be a nice way to trim some fat off! I was thinking about going with a Carbon hood, but I need almost 3" of clearance for my whipple s/c to fit under. I'm probably going to use a stripped 2.75" cowell hood.

Also, a nice tripple+ clear coat paint job will cause you to pick a CONSIDERABLE amout of weight.

lightweight seats supposedly saved around 60 what ive read. i want a lexan top because they dont crack or break. i have wanted to take out honeycomb since i first heard about that its gotta be a pain though so havent got around to it. i thought i might put some kind of foamin its place. 100lbs thats 2/3 of me took the spare and carrier out carrier is about 10 lbs with bolts.

You can take the bumpers off front and reaf and eliminate the honeycomb energy absorber for a great weight savings of around 100 pounds. Just don't hit anything or be hit by anybody. I found this out when I installed my Shinoda Body kit and the instructions had me drilling the rivots out to remove this heavy grey honeycomb. There is also the obvious floor mats. The rear pull shade and rear storage compartments. The stereo is also very heavy, esp if you have the bose system with amps in the speakers. Replace it with light weight unit and speakers. Any body mods or spoilers, only add weight. I picked up one tenth in qusrter by leaving spare tire and carrier at home. Dont get a flat. have a cell phone of a roll back handy. Go to light weight skinny front tires for the track. Thats what I have done so far... Good luck

Removing the honey comb sounds like a good one... But the skinnies up front won't work.... i to road racing/autocross. Don't really care about dragin, unless some punk thinks his sh*t don't stink at the light... and I'll quickly put them into place.

My car weighs right at 3000 without the driver I have eliminated the following:

manifolds for headers

custom radiator mount for the becool rad

replaced the sawblades for draglights

removed the radio

removed the A/C and heater

Removed the passenger airbag

removed the parking brake

removed the ASR/ABS computer, wireharness and all the solinoids and brake lines.

removed the spare, jack and all the carrier mounts.

removed the front swaybar.

Removed the rear inner fenderwells.

This winter I plan to change the headlights out for a set of fixed lights (tired of doctoring up the headlights every year)

a lexan rear window

lighter carpet

replace the steering wheel with a non airbag type.

weld in a full roll cage

Replace the seats with a kerkly seat

CF roof panel

And if there is any money left over a CF hood.

What year is your car? How much does the full roll cage weigh because I'm only putting in the DRM chassis bar. How much will you shave off using a Carbon fiber hood? I have an 84 wich has the heaviest hood of all C4's due to the x-fire ducting i believe.

Also, does the newer style dash/consoles weigh more than the older flat style? I assume they do but how much? Thanks

lexan windows will scratch on the doors, but in the rear they dont see too much damage because they dont get hit with anything, except dust, i know there was a group purchase for them in the forum awhile back and they said you'd save 60 lbs, and also removing one of the hatch pistons which hold up the rear hatch could shave a few ounces

remove headlights and motors and install piaa driving lights in your fog light location, maybe ten pounds.

magnesium wheels all around, they only weight 11 lbs a piece.

Did not know the honeycomb weighed that much... Nice
Mine is 3333. Nothing removed and solid top, solid sway bars, OEM style 95 ZR1 wheels, glass headlights and aftermarket stereo system..
