ok so whats the difference from a 95lt1 6spd and a 96lt4? cam/rockers? whats the diff parts wise and whats the diff power wise. how much faster is a stock lt4 to a stock lt1? ive read you can make a lt1 an lt4....how, how much and how invalved is it.....is it worth the time and money?
The major differences between the LT1 and the LT4 is in the heads and intake The LT4 has raised runner heads that flow more than the LT1s and the LT4 comes with 1.6 roller rockers, whereas the LT1 has 1.5 stamped rockers. The LT4 also has a different crank, rods, and cam as well.
You can put an LT4 topend on an LT1, but it's usually cheaper, and makes more power, to have your current LT1 heads and intake ported and put in a nice cam, such as the LT4 HotCam.
The LT4 was listed from GM at 330HP, however most think that it was underrated, and it more likely putting out around 350HP. Most LT4s dyno around 295-305RWHP in stock form.
Some people have taken a stock LT4 into the 12.8 range in the 1/4 mile, but that's kind of rare. I wouild say most are in the 13.0-13.3 range...but of course that's more driver dependant than anything else!
