Can Someone Verify This Prom (late 86)
I replacing my hypertech chip(calpack) with a stock one from AC Delco. They don't mention aluminum heads in any of the listings but one does say "without rpo iron heads". Process of elimination says this is it. Is it

Man, How much is this gonna cost? You might just want to save your money and do a Prominator.....
This is the one for my engine. I selected it based on trans and ratio. All others didn't fit.

The 1728BUA and 9340BUA are the program chips. the 1728 is an early version and the 9340 has been updated to stop throwing false codes. I tried one of each (borrowed from others) and found that both ran equally as well. Of course neither ran as well as the custom tune.. If your shifting to a Prominator you'll only need the Memcal for the limp home mode.

My plan is to go to the prominator next year. When i remove the hypertech calpack i'm left with nothing so i need a stock calpack in order to use the G1 adapter and prominator. It's going to cost me $50 cad for the stock chip which will be recouped when i sell the hypertech.

I've had mine running since the spring and am very pleased.
The best part is, you upload to the Prominator via the parallel port from a PC. The software comes with the chip. You can do this anytime you please and the engine can be running! Now for the novice whom doesn't have time to learn how to program, you can pay PCMsforless and nominal fee of 75 bucks and email Alvin the datalog log files and he emails you the bin files to upload to your chip. For the dyno day this can be one hell of a time saver since the upload only takes seconds from receipt of the email.
My 86 has been running great ever since Alvin took care of the tuning.
