great idea!!
nice way to get some horse power back if your A/C is dead your vettes a racer!!! i bet with that picture of the bracket you can hit a junk yard and get one for less then half that!!
The F model bracket will not work on an 88. Search for a thread under my sig marked "AC delte- Need Help". It is complete with pictures and part numbers and will give you all the info you need to delete the AC. I did this on my 383 track car and turn over 6000 Rpms on occasion without any problems.

WNDOPDLR,
r there any pics of your bypass?
do u have a p/n or the size of belt needed for this?
do u have the smog pump bypass as well?
I do but it has been on so long, i cannot remember if it made any difference on my belt size or not....
Thanks
I wonder if you can bypass both A/C and smog pump with a shorter belt?
If my engine wasn't in pieces in my shop I'd look into it.

It looks like you can by using a air pump eliminator and leaving the tensioner in place. I just posted to the other thread, because I don't see a tensioner in that particular setup. I'm thinking you might be able to incorporate a tensioner in the eliminator, but I'd like to see if that's it or they did something else like made the alternator adjustable.
On my set-up, I use an alternator bracket with a slot instead of a hole. That is where I basically tension the belt. I remembered all the old 70's camaros and chevelles etc etc with this way to tension a belt, so I copied it. Works great/fine.

Sorry but I am not enough of a computer person to know how to post pics. The PN from NAPA is included in my thread. I am running a smog pump but have completely gutted it, so, in effect, it is just an oversized bearing housing. There is no parasitic loss to the air pump in my case. The original belt tensioner stays right where it is. The belt simply goes around the tensioner with the grooves/ribs on the smooth surface of the pulley. I also "modified" my original AC bracket to get rid of a lot of unneeded and unwanted metal. Cleaned up the whol front of the engine a lot and made things much easier to work on.

I posted on this several times over the past few years.
You have an 88 right?
Just get an air pump elim from breathless, mine is polished looks nice.
Next, get rid of the A/C . you do not need a pulley or an elim kit.
Take your serp belt and cut it. Run it through the tensioner BACKWARD, ribbed side down. Measure the new length, go to a parts store and order new belt. Done. I ordered a ribbed pulley wheel just for over kill but you don't need it.
The tensioner does not care which way it spins. I have run my car well over 6000 rpm at times, no issue.
