Default Oiling a Turbo

Hello everybody! I just joined the forum. I see lots of good and usefull info. I have a '94 LT1, I am going to be installing a turbo myself I got the the general idea as to what I am doing my only question is, "where do I get oil from, for the turbo?" I was told from a hole above the oil filter? I really haven't got a clue. Now another thing is I have an external oil cooler, "is there a way to route the oil going to the turbo thru there, or is it not even necesary?" I live in PHX, AZ so the summers are hell out here. Thanks in advance for any questions comments helping me to solve this issue.

I believe that the hole above the filter will work. What is your general plan for the turbo install?

that is correct, I am not sure if the impala/9c1 b-bods use a oil filter adapter, if so there will be two locations available. on corevttes, we use the plugged hole in the adapter because we have an oil temperature sending unit in the block where F-bodies tap there oil supply from. so somewhere around there you should see a bolt/plug that looks to be about 3/8" threads, I took the plug and found an adapter fitting that fit the threaded hole in the adapter/block, and then a flare fitting that threaded into that adapter fitting and accepted the premade 3/16" ss brake line tubing found anywhere at an auto parts store. the turbo oil inlet should be threaded and I found a fitting that screws into the oil inlet and then simply connect the SS 3/16" brake line tube from the block supply port to the turbo. with a double flaring tool (very inexpensive) you can cut the brake line tube to fit perfect and re-flare the end, then attach to turbo.. voila you are done.. now drain back should be a minimum of -10an but I am using -12 simply to avoid any issues with draining and smoking through the turbine seal from poor drain ability. hope this helps!
