Rolled out of the driveway this morning to go to work and noticed the clutch felt funny, it was engaging much lower than usual. My experience with hydraulic clutch systems tells me I'm low on fluid which probably means I have a leak somewhere.
Where are the common failure points for this car? Is the system fairly straight forward, or did Chevy do somthing dumb like put the slave cyl in the bellhousing?
Hoping I can just change out the master, bleed the system and go?
Could be the master, could be the slave. My master leaked into the footwell. If you stick your hand up there and feel around where the master comes through the firewall you may find oil. If it is dry and clean, look for leaks at the slave.
The salve is the easiest to check for leaks, because it does so on the outside. Just reach under near the driver side cat converter (it's within about an inch so make sure the car is cool) and run your finger along the bottom of the seal; it hopefully will be dry. If it's the slightest bit wet it is leaking.
Could my problem be anything else? From what I know about hydro clutches, there are no adjustments.... It either is working right and has all the fluid or not. And if not, then that fluid had to go somewhere (=leak).
