Default CLT sensor question...

...I'm putting a 85-86 TPI setup on my 76 C3, and I need to figure out which CLT sensor to use..or I think I just got it.

The one in front under one of the radiator hookups is the CLT, but there is another in the manifold, does it measure exhaust temp or deal with the EGR somehow?

Both sensors look the same, besides the exhaust one being all black...

the CLT = coolant level, right?

There are 2 temp switches on the manifold, one fires off the cold injector, the other, the fans... there is a third temp sensor that goes on the head (left side, between #1 and #3).

I think the connectors should look different. the sensor for the 9th injector should look much like a regular injector.

hope this helps.

The cold start injector sensor is in the front of the manifold and has a maroon colored connector.

There is a sensor to the right of it with a black connector, I'm guessing this is the CLT sensor.

Right above the cold start injector itself is another sensor that looks identical to the CLT sensor at the front of the manifold.

Which sensor is that?

First, What is a "CLT" sensor? I've checked both my parts book and my factory Service Manual, and neither reference the acronym, "CLT". On the front of the intake manifold, to the right of center, facing forward, there are two holes drilled and tapped with pipe threads, one above the other. One is for the cold start fuel injector switch and the other is the engine coolant temperature sensor. This engine coolant temperature sensor (sometimes referred to as ECT sensor or CTS) feeds the ECM, only. The cold start (9th) injector installs on the left side of the intake manifold. The C4 heads have pipe threaded holes toward the left end of their exhaust port face, between the end and second to end spark plug holes. Depending on the year wiring harness you are using, one side of the engine takes the dash gauge sending unit and the other side takes the auxiliary fan switch.

RACE ON!!!

Sorry for the confusion with 'CLT' = coolant sensor.

It makes sense that it's the MAT.

Thanks!
