another cam question
I am going to put a new opti and electric water pump in shortly. I was told while im so close to the cam it should be easy to replace it. Please keep in mind i am not a expierienced mechanic this is the biggest job i have ever attempted but i have some knowledgeble help. I was wondering if anybody here has expierence with a mild cam that shouldnt wear out the stock motor but will be worth buying while im down there. I have a 94 lt1 auto, ram air, hypertech programer.
Thanks for any advice.

-Remove Intake
-Remove starter
-Remove oil pan (best done with a lift...kinda sucks without one)
-remove crank balancer and hub
-remove front cover
-Remove radiator and AC condensor, OR remove the tranny and tip to tip the engine back
-possibly remove the exhaust, depends on if the cats are in the way of some of the oil pan bolts
-Replace springs in heads
-possibly new rockers/lifters/pushrods/guideplates
Those are just most of the major things you'll need to do, like I said, this is a BIG step up from chaning the WP and Opti.
As for a cam, a very popular choice is the LT4 hotcam. It's a nice upgrade but still a relatively mild cam that gives a good boost of power. You can also look into the GM846 cam and Comp Cams CC305 as well.
