Holy C-BEAM batman!@!!
I feel for you guys with the zf6. I just got done installing the cbeam. I hope I never have to remove it. Installing it on the 4+3 is much easier. Those damn nubs on the side of the zf were completely in the way.
Crap.. those are hangers for the exhaust right? Meaning I need to fab up something for my 85 exhaust? Hmm. And I thought I was done with the tricky stuff.
LOL, and here I thought it was just me having a problem. It was much easier on the 4+3. I have my headers on and in the morning I will have to make a new hanger for the exhaust. This is one project I am glad is about over. At least I did not have the clutch problems you had CC. I had just put in a motor from a 90 in, and used all the other parts from it.
Does this mean your close to driving the vette
I'm going to replace the 1st-2nd syncro locks in the 4+3 while i have the motor out. Did you come accross these in your bout with the 4+3 ?

Yep, the motor, trans, rear diff are all bolted together.
Agent86, what part are you talking about, the shift collar? What symptoms does it have? I took every single piece apart on it, so if you have any questions.. lemme know.

Sometimes it pops out of 1st and 2nd on decel. When i had a muncie, replacing the syncro lock rings cured that problem. I don't know if thats the correct term, but thats what i called them.

I think those come as an assembly, with the c-springs and 3 keys and the collar itself. The keys hold it in neutral by resting in the low spot in the hub. When in gear, I guess they help a little because of the c-spring squeezing them against the hub.
I didn't replace them on mine, but it was dropping out of 3rd a bunch. I found the dog teeth on 3rd and 1st were trash, probably from running with a bad clutch m/c and using up the synchros, then working on the dog teeth. Once those chew up, it can spit outta gear. But you're probably right to change the collars since they wear against the dog teeth (they're probably cheaper than new gears too.)

Not so fast Robin, the joker is making some scraping noises inside the bellhousing. I don't have a clue what could be hitting. The fork is nowhere near the p/p.
Damn. Time to start unbolting. I'll grind the c-beam down if I ever get it back out.

Since you'll have it apart, why not install a set of ZFDocs CBeam plates? Makes install much easier and helps keep Cbeam from squirming around the bolts. Keeps the car moving straight ahead when under heavy rpm load during a shift. I think they're great even on my ZF.
Because they're way overpriced IMO. The bolts are easy to install anyways. My cbeam holes aren't oblonged, so it hasn't slipped yet.
I also have the scrapping noise. I think it is the bottom sheet metal, but I won't know till I take a nap, do the grocery shopping, and have some coffee. Then I will go look for it.
I made my own Beam Plates for a few bucks all you need is a TIG welder and some SS. 1/4" thick stock,,,, Drill holes for the spacing you C/L spacing need and weld some 1/4" sq. along the nut flat spaced so the nuts wont spin
Also if you are rubbing the PP, consider relieving the back of the fork with your new bench grinder.

This thing rattles a ton in 5th and 6th, shakes the car even. this is on jackstands though. If I drag the brakes a bit, it quiets down. Hopefully it'll be bearable with the tires on, and on the ground, and with the floorboard hole covered up.
Although it is kinda nice getting to see the driveshaft from inside the car.

I even bled the clutch while sitting in the car... I could reach through the tunnel to crack open the bleed line. And I stuck a coat hanger into my clutch alignment tool, to try and spin the clutch while moving the clutch pedal, to check my engagement.
This hole is pretty handy. I can change my speedo gears or shifter from inside the car too.
Well I just finished getting all the interior put back in. I had read we had to modify the trim around shifter or go short throw to be able to go into reverse. Mine goes in all the gears just great, no interference at all.
I also redid the seats while they were out, sure looks much nicer.

Seeing how close that yolk is to your knee is a little unnerving, isn't it! If that u-joint ever let loose, say good-bye to the right leg!
Also, mine shook a bit at high speed on jack stands too. It might be doing something wierd with the suspension at the bottom of its' travel, IMO.
