Air bridge was collapsing. When it got real warm under the hood, the '92 airbridge hooked up to my TPIS cold air box would super pliable. I took my old 89 accordian which was beaten up and cut it down to 9" or so and slipped it inside the 92 airbridge. Problem solved..revs to the moon. Probably was collapsing slightly all the time. Wonder what kinda power I'm making now??

Hey, I know that makes you feel great! Now get out and run the crap out of it before winter hits!
Are you going to try for a few runs at Mason Dixon next weekend?

I bought the air intake from a forum member. I'm speed density so I don't run a MAF. With a little modification, an LT1 bridge works but it's crazy how it has no rigidity
I'd like to...if I can get others to go. Up for it?
I'm up for it if the weather shapes up for Saturday.
I thought I was satisfied with the season when we finished the Skyline Cruise last Saturday. Now I see pictures from the Dragon, I took a short run today before the football games and couldn't get enough of that beast under the clamshell. I'm not ready to quit for winter, thought I was.
I can't imagine my '92 air-duct collapsing -- it has a firm internal brace in it.
Are you sure you don't have some restriction in front of it causing excess vacuum at that point?
My '92 MAP sensor shows, for all practical purposes, no vacuum in the intake manifold at WOT and 6K rpms -- if there is no vacuum in the intake, there is less in the air-duct.

If the air bridge was collapsing, there is a significant pressure drop (read: flow restriction) across the filter!!! The collapsing is a symptom of the low pressure. Just a thought -- I would be looking at ways to increase air flow from the filter end of the plenum; different filter, stacking them or something - try to get that bridge plenum pressure as close as atmospheric at WOT as possible will result in muy more air into the engine. Some serious HP gains my result for just a little modification.
I'd say having the bridge collapse problem is going to lead you to finding even more HP!
When you cut out your shroud for the air filter assembly, did you cut the entire shape of the filter out? Just a thought - maybe that is why your drawing such a vacuum on the bridge....
From what I remember your bridge seemed to be the same as mine...unless perhaps it was deformed at some point in its life and it lost its regidity.
Do you have a K&N filter in there or stock....might just be real dirty.
When I bought the intake from a member, he was nice enough to send me a pre-cut shroud. It's open all the way acroos except for some tabs for the pusher fan. The K&N looks clean but maybe I'll put in a paper filter to see if there's a difference
