I have a 96 LT4 with TPIS longtube headers running into 2 Random Tec high flow cats and then into the resinator . My question is I damaged the resinator when I blew out my rear tire some how . Do I need to replace the resinator or can I run straight pipes from the cats ? Any help would be appreciated . Thanks in advance folks ...oh by the way I have eliminators no muffs ..
you can run straight pipes no problem.it will probably make the exhaust louder.i replaced my resonator with an x-pipe.by the way, what kind of improvement did you see after installing the long tubes?before and after times would be great.mine will be going in sometime soon(i hope).have fun.
Thanks , as far as times . I have taken it to the track before and after the install but its been about 3 or 4 years since the install all I know the times were much better by at least 1 to 2 tenths of a second but I am not the greatest when it comes to the 1/4 mile ...
Thanks for the offer Paul , I will keep it in mind ..but I'm hoping that I could go without it as long as the car is not crazy loud .... ...some great people on this forum .
Dino, alot of guys have removed the resonator and installed a x-pipe. I personally plan to try this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-Mag...spagenameZWD1V
It is 3in in and out and is supposed to have a tru-x design, which is an internal x pipe.
Are you guys using Corvette specific X-pipes or are the universal?
I too thought about removing the resinator but didn't know if I would benefit from it or not. If it will give me a .1 or two at the track and make the exhaust a little louder, I defiently need to put the X-pipe on my to do list.

Dr.Gas will make an X-pipe to fit your exhaust. Just give him the dimensions and he'll make it to fit. Yes, replacing the resonator with an X-pipe will make it louder and according to B&B, it should be 30% louder, inside and out. As far as better times at the 1/4, the jury is still out. B&B says they only make a less than 10 horsepower change and that was on an LT4.

I have a 93 with Corsa and I cut out the resonator and ran straight pipes . It has a much more agressive sound now, you can really hear the exhaust fow through the pipes as you let off the gas pedal. I love that, but on long rides at high speeds the resonace is there.
