Code 43 revisited-89 A4
Started a thread awhile back about a problem I had after changing the intake gaskets-Car would start and run for a few minutes then surge like crazy and die. Cause?
Distributor in a tooth off.
Even if you reset it exactly where you took it out, when the distributor is removed the oil pump shaft automatically moves a bit due to the cut on the gear, Aligned the shaft with a LONG screwdriver, moved it over one, timed it and voilla, runs like a champ. Now I just gotta hope my stripped plenum bolt doesnt cause a vacuum leak.
