Default wiper collision

Hi to all:
I just replaced the wrong Wal-Mart wipers with the correct ones on my 93 Coupe and now they hit. I have read about this on this forum and searched and found a great link with upgraded part #'s from "stealing-fire.com." But my question is how do I go about retiming them so they don't hit for now, as it will some time in late Jan before I can think about buying wipers, lots of irons in the fire right now. As always, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Do both blades go under the hood when you shut them off?First lift the wipers and wiggle them back and forth if there is a lot of play the problem is not timing it is the wiper arms need to be replaced. You do not want to try and adjust them to compensate it is a PIA to do and is not fixing the problem. You can get away with replacing the drivers side only as it leads the pass side on the return(when they crash) so as long as it is tight the pass side can be a little loose.

When I first got my 87 the wipers were very close and occassionally crashed and I removed the screen to gain access to the spacing adjustment and increased the spacing slightly and haven't had a problem since (that was 16 years ago).

I adjusted the wipers on my '88. The left side was going over the windshield trim. I think I read how to adjust the mechanism on this forum. On my '88 take the screen off below the windshield and use a 10mm socket on the two bolts on each arm going to the pivot.

One of the keys is to pull the drivers side wiper below the stop. This way it will sit solidly on the stop when parked. Also wet the windshield when you test them. The friction on a dry windshield is greater and the problem may not occur. My left wiper worked fine at a stop with a dry windshield but moving in the rain, it would go too far.

I adjusted mine to prevent crashing, but now the pass side doesnt' quite go down all the way. I solved the problem by not driving in the rain.

I went with 16 inch blade on drivers side for quick fix.

Well I pulled the arms off and the result is:teeth, what teeth?. There is some evidence that around the turn of the century the wiper arms may have had teeth, but sadly now is not the case. Easy fix, however how about the brass part that the blade clips on to? PS looks fine, but DS looks as bad as the arm. How the heck do I change this thing?
