What year color/year is it? Also who owns it? I was thinking about asking a guy in Oklahoma w/ one to race me last year...he left right before I got a chance to ask him. I'm fairly confident I would've surprised him
you'd be suprised at what those cars can do I mean they aren't very impressive in the hands of a normal person that is Chances are he can't shift worth a damn and he's comparing the cars in the $$$ amount thinking he'd smoke you just because he spent more for his ride.
IMHO,i've played with some of these cars around my area with my other car(not vette) and i wasn't impressed. Mostly the driver of the Ferrari that kills the race.
Go run him! Learn how to launch your car first, those Modenas are tough to get a good launch. Guy in my building had one, i wasnt impressed. Don't pay attention to the Motor Trend stats and all that garbage...Those are pro drivers in optimal conditions. They run good, but werent designed to do the 1/4 mi. I say go for it.
well the times that i have seen for them are 12.8-9 in the 1/4. that should be around what i could run. i won't leave him in the dust but i "think" it would be an almost even match if that is a really the time that they run.
car to car i dont think the LT4 would beat it, but if it was a 6speed you would run toe to toe.
reason i say is i raced a porsche carrera from 70 and left him by half a car length when i hit 100
a ferrari 360 is a bit faster but not much.
In the end the win all comes down to how good you can handle the car.
Mostly you need decent(NEW) tires to win, because worn and used are usually to hard to grip off the line
now an F1 gearbox....... thats another story.
if you have time the two things i am putting on my LT4 soon are 4.10's, a hotcam, and a E-waterpump. that should knock a solid .4 off the 1/4 1/4
Good luck.
plus You have the Advantage with nothing to lose!!!!
to lose to a ferrari is admirable
for a ferrari to lose to a "chevy" is a great thing!!!!
ok some might call me B.Sing here but i am going to tell you my two encounters with my stock GS and a 360 modena (don't know if F1 or not) and a F355 spyder.
the encounter with the F355 was from a dead stop. right from the dig he was 3 cars back and i kept the same distance if not more all the way to 100mph.
with the 360 it was a roll on the freeway. From 70 to 140 or so. I think the guy didn't know which gear to be in because i gave him the go and as soon as i floored it I was pulling on him. We then tried 85 to 140, again the same result. I pulled on him so bad that by 130 he was at least 5 cars back.
We waved at each other after two races and he went speeding on through traffic. my Girlfriend was driving my steel blue and was trying to keep up. I was pissed at her because i wanted her to smoke the both of us but she's not much of a driver.

i know that a cc304 isn't a big cam at all but it does run a lot stronger than it did. i know that it is a well rounded sports car but i don't think that it is that far out of reach for my car. that car isn't an F1. i guess i will just have to video it when i do get the chance to race.
The f car would give you a run for your money .But FACT IS the car only turns 12.70 at 114 to 116 if it gets traction,in the 1/4 mile.
If you change to 1.6 RR and race fuel and get the tires to grip you can beat him in the 1/4 mile with a good light. On the street ,you could get him off the line on the street ,The F car spinns the tires alot before it gets traction.
Or you could race him in the rain the vents aren't sealed on each side of the center glass of the engine .Rain is bad for the F car.
The car is only an 8 cyl,if he has the paddle shifter on the wheel ,that shifts pretty fast,You would have to be real good at shifting to keep up.
Remember he has to bring his car up to 4000 to get any type of foward movement.
Trying to understand something here: why the low torque number in the Ferrari? What could account for this, design, internal additions, extra cams, etc.?

Sounds to me like she's the better driver. She's the one that wasn't doing 140 on the freeway.
