Default I need 89' Climate Control help

I was driving my 89' on a cold IL day this past Saturday when the climate control seemily just shut off. When I started the car and warmed it up, the C.C. was working just fine. I adjusted the temp. to 85 to get it warm faster. After a few minutes I set it to around 70. After driving down the street a bit I looked down and noticed that the temp. display was just blank and the little orange dot that bounces back and forth to what ever setting you have it on (Defroster, A/C, Heater, etc) was off. Basically the unit looked just like it does when the car is completely off with no keys in it. I tried turning the car off and letting it sit for hours and still nothing. Does anyone know what is wrong with it and what I should do to resolve it? My girlfriend said she had been having some "problems" with it. Thanks all!

Default ECC issues

I would look into the "other" section. There is a list of tech articles which include some ECC fixes.. They worked for mine..

You don't mention whether the Climate Control continues to function
despite the odd behavior of the console display, but I am guessing
it does.

At issue then are the contacts between the terminals of the CCU and
the harness, also with contacts in the unit itself.

Here are some threads that may help. Take note of the advice not to
use an eraser on gold-plated contacts. With my '89, the problem occurs intermittantly. I set the fan and
other parameters and carry on. I will be back into the dash at some
point again in the future.

Thanks a lot guys. Yes I did try the fuse and yes it was still pumping out heat. The fuse was fine however. I'm going to try pulling it and cleaning the contacts as suggested.

Yes I did but I am terrible at reading those things. Where is the other fuse? The one I checked was the A/C Fuse in the Fuse box.

A/C fuse runs to the Compressor which is grounded by the Blower Module, but doesn't have any effect on the Dash Controls. Control Panel gets memory from the Gages Fuse; ignition from Courtesy/Clock. If either were open, other things would be out too. Ground is to the left kick panel, if it were open, nothing would work. Sounds like you need a new or rebuilt panel or you can try to clean the contacts.
