Stuck Throttle or cable problem
When I open the throttle some, it always gets stuck in position and revs high when I come to a stop-unless I rev the engine or lift up on the gas pedal. Even if I stand there beside the throttle, and open it by hand, there is a point where it will stay open on its own. Is this an easy fix or do I need a new TB...? thanks

Probably worn throttle shaft bore which will cause the blade to get hung up in it's bore. Grab the drivers side of the shaft and see if you can walk it around. You can disconnect the cable and try the throttle by hand to eliminate or pinpoint if the cable is the culprit. There are several people rebuilding the shaft bore with a bearing if that is the case.

I went through all that with my 86 . Likely the throttle body where the throttle shaft goes through is worn oval shaped , causing the butterflies to stick when closed. Does the throttle stick closed sometimes , causing the car to lurch off idle? If so, then that is the problem and the only fix is to have the TB bored out and repaired or new TB. Several folks offer this service. I had my TB bored out to 50MM and it works great now.
