Default Options To Using An FMU?

I am preparing to install a P600B in my 90 L98. I am looking for alternatives to using the supplied FMU. I contacted FAST today and priced their XFI, $2800.00 What are some of the other systems I should look at?

Thanks.

well are you planning on running the stock boost for the P600B system? if so the FMU will work fairly well. but if you are looking into possibly upgrading and running higher boost down the road and are adamant about running aftermarket Engine Management, an older model of the fast or DFI will work just fine for less money. the DFI Gen 7 basic kit can be had pretty reasonably compared to the XFI but the XFI does have some features standard that you would need to upgrade the DFI to get the same setup which would make it about the same cost. just depends on what you would like to have on the new system.. wide band? knock module? take it from there and price them out.

You can use an Aeromotive electronic pump control. It can be boost referenced allowing a porportional higher voltage applied to the pump as boost pressure increases. Or you can get a complete electronic boost referenced pump control system from Greg at Blower Works. And it is tunable

I wouldn't recommend this to everyone, but since you are looking for options, here goes. Use the 7749 ECM from a Syclone or Typhoon. It may not tune as easily as a FAST, but the price is right. They can also be made to run low Z injectors. If you are already set up to burn chips, it may be one more reason to look into the 749. You will need to cut into your harness, and you may loose some of the dash functions, but it is still a very capable ECM. For the money, you can even have a spare on hand. Good luck with your decisions!
