Default Low Coolant light/electrical issue

New guy to the site...This 86 is my forth vette (an 85 and two 93's), but this problem has me stumped.

The low coolant light comes on whenever the car is off idle (during acceleration, cruising). Coolant levels are perfect. When the light comes on and if the radio is on, I get a brief squeel through the speakers. I'm thinking some sort of grounding issue, but I was curious if this had happened to anyone else who may be able to cut down my search time.

A small amount of air in the cooling system or a bad sensor could cause this.

You need to pack the cooling system. Get a helper or just hold the throttle open with one hand (around 2000 rpm) and fill the rad with the other hand. Then cap it and remove your hand from the throttle.
Welcome aboard

Still having issues here. I have changed the two coolant level sensors, and packed the rad. When I was doing that, I did notice a coolant level drop of about four inches when the engine was reved to around 2000 rpm. I capped the rad before the revs dropped and notice that the coolant overflow tank level increased at that point, which I assume would be normal. But I'm still getting the same coolant light issue. It suggests to me that there maybe a problem pulling the additional coolant from the overflow tank into the rad, such as air in the system or an air leak somewhere. There are no coolant leaks, and the rad. cap seals tight (I can hear the air enterint when I lift the locking arm). The overflow tank has excess coolant at this point, since I packed the rad. Any ideas? Or do I need to see a specialist for this?

I had a simular problem a few weeks ago. It was a simple and cheap fix. New radiator cap. Make sure its the correct pressure cap for your radiator. Good luck.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot. It still cools like it should, but that light is REALLY bothering me!
