I recently got a Dana 44 that came in 2 pices. What I was wondering is how do you confirm the ratio and age of the unit. The rear cover has a part number of 14105120 which the dealer says does not exist.
The ring gear does have a date of 1-20-89 on it with a bunch of other Dana numbers. Also was wondering if all 44 rear covers fit all 44 differentials.
I can not find any markings on the differential case.
Thanks

Usually there are some additional numbers on the ring gear that could indicate the gear ratio. Something like 41:10 which would indicate 4.10. Or the other option you can count the number of teeth on the ring gear and the pinion. Simple math from there.
If you don't find the ratio that way, I can deal with the Dana part number stamped on the gears. The Corvette diff is a Dana model 44ICA. All the Corvette 44 diffs have the same rear cover bolt pattern, but I am quite sure that is different from the conventional, Dana 44, solid axle, diff cover, bolt pattern.
