Default Cut lid

I just bought my 96 LT1 and i hear from most people that a cut lid is better then stock. I was just wondering if anyone had pictures or steps that i can follow to do it myself. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on one if i can do it. I have a dremil but don't know how much to cut. I also plan on buying a K and N filter once i do this. I may not get any noticable gains in HP but that doesn't matter to me now. All i have done to the car is get ride of the mufflers.

I looked but couldn't find any other directions on this site. If you have a link of where i could find it that would be nice too.

I've got a '95 one (same part) that's been beautifully cut. It looks like it came that way. If yours is in excellent condition, I'll trade with you.

I found the K&N fit badly in the cut lid. It comes with some foam stuff to attempt a seal but it just didn't close and seal completely.

Careful with it. Also it's real easy to cut the lid. And it makes a little sotp difference.

Done. Didn't take me too long once i found the right tool. I didn't cut as much as the picture that was given but it is close. and i didn't worry too much about how good it looks. So i have some edges that are still sharp but o well. As for the k & N filter. what other brands would you recomend. I know all the stores carry Fram but i didn't go to a Auto parts store yet. They might carry something else.

Its about $50.00 to purchase one or it you are going to cut it yourself, the amount of the face that you cut is everything that doesn't hold the filter in place. Give it a try.
