I would imagine there is plenty more to be had from that combo with a good tune. Do you have any type of scanner or data logger? A scan will tell you a lot about how the engine is currently running. If you are not comfortable scanning, or don't have the ability to do so, a session or two on a dyno with a wide band O2 meter will tell you a lot. It might be tough to find someone with that set up AND the ability to program a chip for your car (an '85, correct?) locally in MA.

There are plenty of mail order tune options. If you run a search, you'll find quite a bit. I have a 383 combo similar to yours and am very pleased with my tune from Jeremy Formato.

Good luck!

I recomend you get the TPIS custom chip for the mods you made to your engine from TPIS then have the car dyno tuned!

Use pcmforless.com they might burn it for a fraction of the price of tpis, if its not perfect you send it back to them and they will touch it up for free. I would talk to them, I got my chip from them and they seem to do some really good buisness.

PCMforless, Fastchip.com, Formato....etc.

Then have a local shop fine tune it with a wideband O2.

And yes, its necessary and worthwhile at this point.

if you put all that money into your engine already, you might as well go the whole way and get you a custom chip. How's that zzx idling right now with your stock chiP? Probably very crappy. if your engine is already fast, with the right tune it will become ferocious. when I istalled the chip in my car it make a night and day difference, and my cam has alot less duration.

You can get it dyno-tuned with one of the best guys around at Dez Racing in Seakonk Mass. Forum member SloRVette (sp?) does tuning there and he does an amazing job. Look up Dez Racing if you want the tune done locally...you can always of course go with a mial-order tune as well, and if that's the case I would recommend PCMForless for the job! Up to you!

Don't want to sound stupid, but I've heard people say that the computer will go back to stock settings so don't waste your money on a chip. What's the deal? Maybe I am misinformed but I want to start doing mods to my engine and would like to know the correct info on chips.

The miniram itself would definately require a retune.. Without it the AFR's will be screwy at wide open and the acclerator pump (aka accel enrichment) will be lean so can get pop's back threw the intake.

STOP listening to those people. It cant go back to stock settings once the new file has been burned into it.

thanks alot guys.
I didnt know if pcmforless was quallity but i think ill use em.

The zzx acually is a very lopy cam idle which i like i have a manuall tranny( hope zf6soon) so the low end dosent suffer with this at all. it goes and kicks but at 2800-6500.

I was pretty shure i would get even alot more punch with a tune. The stock tpi kick fuell out at 4200K right?? anyways..

The car was difficul to get dialed in by me with the stock chip. But with some playing around its very drivable in the warmer weather.
The only thing is the cold start injector you have to give it some gas untill warm up.
The engine build did great though its stored at winter time and i fired it up 2 days ago and right when the key whent in it fired up. no diking around. Starts just the same as if it was a hot summers day and the car was still warm.

Thanks, so im getting the pcm for less...getting a dyno tune and sending the results back to pcm....to get adjusted?
How long do pcm...take to deliver the part to be reflashed???

I didnt get the tpis one cuz last time i checked i could get like a pcm..one for alot less than a tpis one for the 500hud. they run and everycars different and the tpis is just for the miniram setup.
Thanks,mike
