Just got it towed home, been idling kind of rough/low lately, but runs out fine. Started missing, popping through TB like it was starved for gas. Would barely start, but ran incredibly rough, almost sounded like spark knock. 215 deg. coolant
Cooled down for a half hour, fired right up and drove fine for about a mile, then did it again missing and sputtering then died, almost ran over some crazy guy standing on the corner who was yelling at traffic.
**I went to unscrew the scraeder valve, and gas went everywhere, never had that happen before. Screwed the FP gauge on, and with the key in "on" position only gets 12 lbs. Would this be the FP regulator? F.pump was replaced 5000 miles ago.
It certainly could be the regulator. Test it. Clamp off the hose in the return line and repeat the test. The pressure should jump to 60# or better. It sounds like it's time for a new valve insert for that Schrader valve, too.
12 lbs of fp? That's not good needless to say. Any gas in the vacuum line from the fpr? Have you done the 'pinch" test on the fuel lines to isolate the problem?
Hey Ron, when my pos Accel AFPR started on the fritz, there was no gas in the vacuum line either -- but it certainly smelled of gas. I had trouble maintaining idle at times. Attached a vacuum gage to the AFPR, and it didn't hold vacuum. Bad diaphragm. What alos brought this to light were some datalogs I sent to Alvin at pcmforless. he suspected a bad AFPR, and he was right. It only had 2,000 mi. on it, so I yelled at summitracing and they refunded me in total. Got a nice Holley unit, helluva lot better, and life was good.
Good luck, please let us know how it turns out!

Owen moved here a few months ago from the midwest...Got to talking the day I bought the MAF, took the dude to the track (hes a vette nut too) and let him run the 89 down the track, guess it paid off..
Damned thing... I went through 2 pumps in about a year... I swear, the replacement stuff from GM is total garbage.
I got this, during my 2nd rebuild, featuring a Walbro pump thats been modified for a perfect fit in our applications....the price was right....I went with the 255LPH unit......all installed in 30 mins: http://www.racetronix.com/RX-C44-FPKG-2.html
Ron, its nice to hear the great news that you're problem is solved
