On the radiator just below the fill cap. Has a single green wire. There is also a Low Coolant Module under the passanger side dash below the ECM that influences the low coolant light. It's wired between the low coolant light and the low coolant sensor on the radiator.

What is it that you are experiencing?

Did the by pass thing and put a new tstat in. The radiators full, as is the filler tank is were it should be. For the first 5 mins of running the light is on. Than it stays off till the next time???

You might have some air bubbles in the system from the work you did. I would "pack" the radiator if you have not already done so.

1. Just let the car idle and allow it to come up to operating temps. Periodically squeeze the upper radiator hose with a rag around your hand. When the hose does not feel hard the thermostat has opened.

2. Slowly remove the radiator cap and have someone hold the idle up around 1500 RPM or more. The coolant level in the radiator should drop.

3. Fill the radiator to the top. Put the cap back on before letting the idle back down. Do this for several days if you need to to get all the air out of the system.

The low coolant light should no longer come on while driving once the radiator is "packed".

I hope this is of some use.

every time i drop the coolant from my 86, it takes about a week of adding a little water each day before starting for the ''low coolant'' lite to loose interest

My '89 had the same issue. It stopped happening after several warm up and cool down cycles. Just keep the overflow tank at the proper level.

Had better results with the following:

Engine rev @ 2500
Jack the front end up so the wheels are off the ground
then do the packing...
