EM LT1 Dynacat Metal Matrix Cats, a D44 with 3.45s, 2800 stall.

I haven't decided on how hairy of a cam to pick.

I hope so, driving in the snow has been pretty routine I need a little adrenaline rush every now and then.

There is NO way you will be even close to 440-475 rwhp with the mods you are doing. Maybe 340-375 rwhp.

I would go with the stroker crank kit while your doing this and be done.It only cost a couple grand more to go all the way.Why tear it apart twice?

Read my post again, I never said I was going to have that with my A4 I said I was buying the package/pieces that provide 440-475 in a M6.
I bet I beat 375!

I guess you have more money laying around than I do!

Next phase is probably going to be a 396 shortblock.

I would think you'll be close to my numbers. As we discussed above we've done about the same exact thing (except you don't have your flow numbers or cam picked yet).

You should be near 400 rw if you get an aggressive cam. Although I don't have emissions concerns like you do, my car is track only. No cats, no egr, no AIR, etc. It all adds up (adds down?) to 2850 lbs

Using the same setup there is no way there is a 65-100 rwhp difference an A4 compared to a M6.
375 rwhp in an A4 is a strong number.

Best of Luck.

OK, how about a friendly wager. For every (sae) hp you make over 375 rw, I'll give you $10. For every rwhp you make below 375, you give me $10.

Mine took about 15 minutes , and I ground everything completely smooth.....the only thing I left was the baffle inside for the pass side throttle body tube.......about your engine combo....depending on how your heads turn out, flow, efficiency, port design, volume, Ect...... and what custom grind they go with.......other than those possible head/ cam variables, my engine combo is almost identical to what your doing....It runs great , you should love it....I don't know if it was mentioned in the previous posts(diddn't read 'em all) but don't forget the 1 3/4 long tubes, I also tried 1 5/8 longtubes on this combo and they were way, way, down on power above 4000 rpm's(about the same down low).....and get some really good "hands on" tuning(mail order to start is ok)........power should be right around 400 to 425 RWHP in your A4...but this is only "IF" if the heads and cam are really "EXCEPTIONAL"....any of the combo's out there that exceed those peak figures on a stock bottom end LT-1 "aren't" complete lies, but they do completely sacrafice having much low end drivability(reguardless of gears and stall RPM), as well as longevity.....Iv'e seen it too many times.......alot of places intentially do this because many customers (mostly internet shoppers) "only" pay attention to the False god(peak HP numbers)......anyway, good luck with it and keep an eye on your shift points, LT-1's (many times) have premature rod bearing issues above 6600 on the stock lower end..........Joe

How do you know we have the same set up? I have only mentioned my supporting mods! I have never mentioned the porter, head package, cam etc.

I really wish I had some dyno numbers for you with my set up. They'd be pretty accurate. But I don't, so you can pretty much ignore everything I say

No you haven't, and I'm sorry if I've been too hard on your expectations of your heads/cam package. Initially you were saying that your combination was making 440-475 rwhp in a stock ci LT1, I'm pretty sure the machinist meant that to be the flywheel hp. Even 375 rwhp is a very strong combination for a stock ci LT1 A4. I just thought I would prepare you for a possible letdown, if your dyno numbers were far off from what you expected.

I wish you the best of luck with your buildup, and who knows if you make 400+rwhp, I may change my combination.

Keep us updated, I'm anxious to see the results.

I always have been shooting for around 400RWHP, I knew that it is hard to make that with an A4. I did post that they are making 440-475 in six speed stock lower end LT1s with this combination. That is a true statement and I have seen the dyno results. However, that is with a high reving cam and I don't believe I want that stout of a cam for my A4.
However, if I don't pull more than 375RWHP I will pass my C4 on to my fifteen year old daughter and I will buy another Mustang to mod. I know with the money I have been sinking into LT1 mods I could have built a killer Stang.

On a separate note only the tuner will actually know everything about my car, old street racer habits are hard to break.

Mike

John Mackey's 96 A4 was running mid 11's with just 360 rwhp. So even at 375 rwhp, with your gears and stall, your car would be really strong on the street and strip. At 400 rwhp, HOLD ON!!!

I still stand by my original statement; however, my daughter will be bummed because she would prefers Mustangs.

I like Mustangs and I did not plan to buy a Vette. I was looking at 96 Impala SS's but they held their value, and were more money in good condition than I wanted to spend. So I bought a Vette with lower milage and in better shape for less money than the Impalas I was looking at.
