Drive down the road and let it everything get stabilized at a certain speed. The converter should be locked up at this point. Keep your foot on the gas pedal and press the brake pedal with your other foot. The converter should unlock when the brake is pressed. It may feel kinda like the tranny downshifted. Take your foot off the brake and the converter will lock up again, as long as you're not going up a hill or gave it more throttle. Also, you need to be in overdrive, but don't hit the brake or gas enought to make it actually shift out of overdrive. This is the way it works with my '93 anyway.

Your converter wont lock up until app 44 mph... once its locked, you drive about 50, & let off the gas the tach should stay at the same RPM if its locked.. if the tach drops 200-300 rpm you know its unlocked..
I will lock in D or in OD at app 44-48 mph.. under that speed it wont lock..
Connect a test light (like a mini LED in series with a 2.2k Ohm 1/4W resistor) across ALDL pins A and F. When the light goes out the ECM has sent the Lock-Up singnal to the TC solenoid.
