Expect a different sound. As far as performance goes on the LT1 dont expect much if any on changing the catback. Performance wise, the factory exhaust is very good. IMHO of course.
I agree, it looks great and fits like a glove (like a good fitting glove not the OJ glove). The sound at WOT is awesome and at idle and cruise you can't even hear it in the car with the windows up. This is an exellent exhaust system that is well made and worth every penny IMO (thats why its on my 92), but don't expect any extra hp. The factory exhaust is very efficient and almost impossible to improve on with stock HP levels.

Absolutely awesome exhaust , no resonance as advertised
I was told that the stock exhaust on early C4s was very restrictive and replacing the stock exhaust would boost the HP. Wouldnt straight pipes gain a lot of power too?

"Early" being the L98's. 85-91...I think. The LT1 (92-96) exhaust was a much better design w/ the most restrictive part being the mufflers. You may get a few hp by eliminating them or replacing them w/ a more free-flowing design such as Magnaflow, Flowmaster etc...
The advantage of upgrading the LT1 exhaust lies in the sound cuz the stock system sounds anemic.
What about a B&B 3" system? Wouldn't that flow more and thus give him some more power? The reason I threw that is is because I am thinking of going this route as well and found a post to ask an exhaust question. Also, how is the Pacesetter exhaust? I noticed that they (Pacesetter) also sell high flow cats. Would this also give me a better flowing less restrictive system? One thing I can honestly say is that the stock exhaust looks huge (pipe size) already.

There is no benefit in going to a 3" system on a stock car.
I have to agree with Jeff. If you are planning on keeping the car stock (good luck), then Corsa is your best bet. If you plan on modding with LT headers, cam/heads, then the B&B will wake up, lose the resonance, and give you a deep growling sound.
