Unpredictable!!!!!!
My 90 coupe has a mind of it's own. I drove it to work this morning with no problems, or so it started out that way. When I got to work I shut off the ignition. I checked to see if it would start up again but no dice. I went back out about an hour later and it started right up but when I tried to lower the temp in the car there was no response. It was set on auto and when I tried to shut it off, you guessed it, NO RESPONSE! I tried again about two minutes down the road and the buttons were working again. Next time I shut off the vehicle the same thing happened. It wouldn't start up until about a half hour later. Do you think it's vats? Could it be a problem with the computer? If it is the computer, can it be fixed or is it going to need to be replaced? The Service Engine Soon light hasn't come on at all. Come to think of it, this is actually the first time in a long time that the SES light hasn't come on. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You are a brave man to be driving such an unpredictable car! VATS is a good guess on the starting problem. You might try a VATS eliminator plug in from Mid-America or somewhere. How's your battery connections, clean and tight? Corrosion can build up fast this time of year, especially if it's a little loose. The starter or ground end of the cable can also get loose/corroded. Also, starter motors can act this way when they get old, the brushes don't slide down against the armature and make good contact because they are worn off. Sometimes tapping on the starter with a hammer will get it to start. Try the simple things first, you might get lucky.
