Noises when key to 'on' position
I heard a different kind of noise this morning when I turned the key to the on position (not cranking). Normally, I thought the fuel pump and the abs and maybe the climate control all made a humming noise for a few seconds but today it was more like a louder grinding noise. I had the hood up and it sounded like it was coming from the right side. Turned the key off and back to on and it did it again. Third try everything was back to normal. Radio off, climate control off, everything off. Thanks in advance.

How loud?
Sometimes I hear what I think is a stepper motor dragging, creaking when it powers up. Possibly the IAC. It's not very noticeable though.

Somewhat louder than the normal hum. But a very different sound. I have a starter motor that is going bad and I am putting the new one in today. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. It hasn't done it since the one time on Tuesday. The starter is getting predictable. First crank - click. Second crank - start.
