My headman elites pinched a major wire bundle between primary tube and body so i had to reroute it. After a close look it seemed that if i could get my bundle on the other side of fuel lines, i could solve the problem. Luckly, there is a disconnect of the feed and return line at the fuel filter. I seperated the lines and pulled my harness around the other side of lines. Nicely tucked out of the way now. This info will hopefully help out others down the road.
Nice job! I ran into the same thing with my Hedman's on my 85. I wire tied mine away from the tube and wrapped the wires in exhaust wrap. I like this idea better so the next time I'm in there I'll follow your lead.
DEI and Thermotec both offer heat shielding material.
I forget which vendor offers it, but there is a wrap for lines
that has a hook-and-loop (Velcro) closure along the length
of the enclosure. You wrap the target object, join the
hook/loop seam and are spared the need to disconnect the
protected lines or harnesses.

Downside? More money.

I looked at DEI's hook loop one at the local jobber. My good guy cost was $27 cad for 3 ft. The harness should be fine now but the fuel lines are as close as an inch, i think. I may blanket them, we'll see how the heat is.

How much length do you need to cover on the fuel line? I've got something kinda' neat I could send you for that.
