Need hellp fast (alternator)
Vette died on the way home today.
Need a quick cheat sheet on alternator swap (89 L98)

Nothing to it, there's 3 bolts holding it on, if I remember right, plus the electrical connector. 5 minute job ;)

You need a 1/2" breaker bar. In a pinch I've just used a big stick to push it down enough to loosen the belt.

If you will look on the tensioner arm, you will see a 1/2" sq hole. Insert a 1/2"
drive breaker bar and use the breaker bar to rotate the tensioner arm so there is no tension on the serpentine belt. Then you can remove the serpentine belt and relax the tensioner.

You might want to get used to changing alternators. I just got my second one replaced in two years.

Thanks guys.. with nothing but a set of combo wrenches, a flashlight, and a 1/2" breaker, 12 Minutes.. God I LOVE my car.

Since my post didn't get answered, if my alternator is putting out 89amps max, does it need replacing?? I get an SYS every once in a while at start up, and I think this is the cause. Battery was tested out fine.

And if someone does an LT1, you need to have a T-50 torx, a 13mm and a 14mm socket, as well as the 1/2" for the tensior
