Hello everyone.
I just wanted to get a pulse check on a 'problem' that a friend and I seem to be experiencing. We both own C4 vettes... one 86 and one 87.
When cold, they both fire to life at the mere touch of the key. Once they warm up however, they both seem to crank for a few seconds before they stumble and fire up.
Both have performance chips (my friend's vette was doing this before the chip). Injectors have been cleaned. They are both tuned with new wires, plugs, cap, rotor. Oil is changed frequently on both. Timing is good. His engine was recently re-newed so that rules out timing chain and mechanical wear.
Does any other C4 owner experience this? Thoughts?
If memory serves me, it seems like mine acted that way when the fuel pump was going south. I'd do 2 things first, check the fuel pressure and
second inspect the wires going into the FP relay-you might be surprised what you see there, I was shocked.

these are the first things that come to mind along with leaky injectors. Check pressure and watch for a sudden drop after shutdown. If fuel pump relay is good it should crank good cold and hot.
Thanks for the tips! We did discover some leaking injectors!
There seems to be an inherent problem with the factory injectors...are there any recommendations for replacement injectors?

My 88 did this when the IAC was set incorrectly. There is a tech Tip on how to adjust the base idle with the IAC disconnected. It starts quickly under all conditions now. Hope this is your problem as it is an easy fix, other than hard to reach. I removed a short smog hose blocking it to unplug it, put the hose on, ran it to set base idle, took the hose off, plugged it back in, put hose back on. This was actually the easiest way for me.

22lb Pink tops from Five O Motorsports. About $250 for the set

Rick, I am in Everett. My 86 C-4 iron head will not idle, stil, can you holler at me at work.
425-304-4043,
Thanks,
When my car wouldnt idle, turned out to be a leaky PCV hose. Still idled rough so I replaced the IAC cause mine was gummed up really bad and that fixed the problem. Starts right up and idles smoothly.
if you are still running stock chips, there is a hot delay built in that cuts off injector flow until oil psi reaches a certain pressure, replacing the chip with one that doesnt have this fixes long start times assuming there are no other problems.

My '96 does this EXACT same thing. I was told it's porb. leaking injectors but have yet to verify this. I'm wondering if the above stated replacements would be right for a 96 LT-1? Or are they 24lbs? I'm thinking I want o go this way, just want to be sure of the right parts. Thanks!!

24lb for LT1. But I have seen on the forum lately of bad news with the pink top five 0 motorsport injectors. Mudslide and a few others have experianced faulty new injector(s). When the seller was contacted he said they buy them in 100's and they are not tested before selling and there is no refund. That is a lot of damn work IMO to get screwed with faulty new items, not the mention without a refund.
I got my 24's from these guys:- http://www.blueovalindustries.com/pr...parent=9902061
They gave excellent service at a good price and posted to the UK fast and didn't sting me with postage add ons. They came in a box of 8 just like the picture.
They might do 22's as well you might want to ask em.

I just ordered the 22lb pink top flow matched set from
Five O Motorsports, they have a 3 year warranty. My car is 100% stock so I think this was the best product. Hope they turn out to be a nice set.

And just where is this table supposed to be in 32 or 32b or 6e tdfs???? Now there are crank fuel pulse width vs temp and vs tps and vs ref pulse tables...........There is a circuit that will shut it down with low oil press. but it has nothing to do with the prom program.
