I guess i have a question on thick vs standard gear sets. I have found 3.54 and 3.73 ring and pinion sets for both 3.07 and numerically higher carriers and also sets in these sizes for 2.73 and numerically lower carriers. So with a 3.07 rear end in my A4, this should be a 3.07 carrier and there should be appropriate standard gears for 3.54 and 3./73 rations. It appears you get whats call 'thick' ring and pinion for these ratios is you have the 2.73 carriers.

Yukon sells a 3.54 (and 3.73) ring and pinion for the 3.07 carrier. they also sell a 3.54 THICK (and 3.73 THICK) for the 2.73 carrier.

My 95 would not shift into second at WOT until I changed the shift points (well maybe it would have if the engine would have revved high enough).
