Default please clarify someone

i was looking through a very old c4 catalogue from mid america and they gave a tip of "2 or 2 1/4 turns of the steering wheel for a Z51 packaged car and 2 3/4 turns of the steering wheel for a Z52 packaged car.
well ive got the problem of my car not having any of the build sheets anymore(except fuel tank which i cannot really get to) im sure i have one of these options cos i got oil cooler, boost fan, bilestins (rears have blue top half??), but am not sure which one.

i tried the whole turning steering wheel thing but that has just stumped me, from the steering wheel being in a straight up and down manner, to full lock, it is only a 360 degrees turn.... not even close to two full turns... have i read this info wrong??

thanks for your input

It sounds as though you're checking it from center. Two turns lock to lock means the entire travel from full left to full right or vice-versa.

My 85 Z51 is two turns lock to lock.

Center to lock is 360, just like you measured.

ahhh.... lock to lock, man, so simple..... do i feel stupid!

well i guess my lock to lock would be 2 turns.... meaning Z51

i was told by someone though, that Z51 bilisteins had the blue top half, on both front and back, mine are just on the back (blue top halved, all yellow on front) ive got an early 87... if that makes a difference.

My 85 front z51 Bilsteins are all yellow with a steel boot, the rears have a black rubber boot.

The replacement z51 shocks have a blue boot.

I think in 85 at least, the rear shocks are the same, z51 or not.

Au contraire mon ami, Z52 also had "fast" steer, 1.96 turns L-to-L, 13.0:1. Check: Front sway bar diameter- Z51/1.2", Others/0.9". Rear sway bar- Z51/0.87", Others/0.86". Front spring- Z51/0.56", Others/0.52" thick. Rear spring- Z51/0.98", Others- 0.87" thick. Should be able to verify Z51/Z52 from above.

1987:

The RPO Z51 package was refined to include structural enhancements developed for the convertible, and a finned power steering fluid cooler.

• A new RPOZ52 "sport" handling package combined elements of Z51 with the softer suspension of base models. RPO Z52 included the radiator boost fan, Bllstein shock absorbers, engine oil cooler, heavy-duty radiator 16x9.5-lnch wheels, faster 13:1 steering ratio, larger front stabilizer bar (except early production), and the convertible-inspired structural improvements for coupes. Z52 was available with coupes or convertibles automatic or manual transmissions

For `87s;
FE1s have a 15:1 steering ratio. (2.36 turns)
Z51s & Z52s have the same 13.0:1 ratio. (1.96 turns)
