I found this metal pc. in my distibuter when I took it out and laid it on the bench the pc fell out along with some plastic pieces. It looks like the pc to a rotor. I dont see anywhere else it could go. What do you guys think? its a little fuzzy I guess I got to close--thanks guys
I suppose it could be from the rotor, couple more angle pics might have helped, when I first looked I thought it might have been the ground strap from the coil..some use a little pigtail ground, others use a metal ground strap...but from what I can see it doesn't really look like it.
Whats your rotor looking like?

Yes, that's the tip of the rotor which arcs to the points on the cap. It's just held in by a piece of glued plastic, very flimsy crap. You need a new rotor.
Yes it is --I looked at my old rotor which was still here at my work and the pc. was gone. The amazing thing was that the car ran great with the old rotor with no pc. on it go figure

There's no way an HEI rotor is gonna fire to the cap contacts with that piece missing. The tip undoubtedly got knocked loose when you cocked the cap while lifting it clear of the dizzy.
There is a cheesey thin pc. under it and that was makeing it run. I posted pics of the rotor a while back, Ill dig up the pics and post them tomarrow--my comp. at home is to slow. You wont believe the rotor when you see it. what happened to the rotor was when I changed the flywheel I loosened the cap so it would not brake. Then when it was still on stands I fired it up to check the job out --it was ok --finished the car and let it down and noticed that the cap was not bolted down,so I tightened it and went for a ride--it ran good but had a small skip at idle--strange but true pics to follow
