Flakey Alarm System
I have an '89, 6 spd. rag top w/31K miles. The car is in very good condition, however, I would love to rip out that alarm system
This is what happens; I'll close the door and it will arm itself automatically with an annoying churp in about 2 mins. other times it will not. When it does, the siren goes on when I open an unlocked door and the only way to turn it off is with the key fob. There is a switch in the car that should turn-off the auto arm feature, but it no longer works.I am not the original owner, so I'm not sure if the siren in the car is OEM. The key fob says PRESTIGE on it, don't know if this is dealer installed brand.
Does a defective original equipment (stock) anti-theft act this way???
Are there any sensors or switches in the door locks to check, if not, can I safely remove the anti-theft system without creating other problems ???
Any ideas? Please help, Sanche
I may be replacing my Factory system because I need a replacement key fob that costs $175 at the dealer
Frustrating for sure. Good Luck!
