I would pay attention to the ICM (ignition control module). It drives the coil and has been known to cause a variety of spark and ignition problems. Very sensitive to heat when it goes bad or can just quit for no reason. Best way to check it is to subsitute one.

I also with the previous post going back to factory.

Doesn't sound like at this point the opti is bad. The other cause could be the ECM which is usually low on the list, but the output for the ignition can be easiely checked if we have to go there.

The ICM is original and looks like it may be the problem, GM is selling it for 150.00 , is there any difference in the genric stores autozone, checker? there selling it for 80.00 with a lifetime warranty? Thanks

Well good news for once looks like the ICM was the cause it looks to be running fine. But now since I've done some much research on the opti spark problems I'm thinking in the future I may switch to the Delteg coil setup. Since it's invitable the Opti-sparks fail early in life
