I have my '93 at my trusted mechanic's for a tech inspection before doing a track day next weekend at Pocono. Car has 95K and has been well-maintained. I'm the second owner and have put 10K on it since I bought it last year.
Anyway, he only found two issues from the punch-list:
1. Rear shocks (FX3) blown (they are originals). Fronts are fine!
2. Rear brake pads low. Only 30K on them -- originals lasted 65K per prior owner records. Fronts were done 20K ago and are fine.
I always thought front brakes and shocks took more abuse than rears, and I never heard of rear pads going that quickly. Is it possible something else might be going on I should mention to my mechanic?
I'm no expert but I think I read in a thread recently that the rear brakes do most of the work with ASR. Could be that competitive driving with the ASR on is eating up the brakes. Shocks could be old age and driving style too. If somebody can back me up on the ASR thing I'd appreciate it, if wrong tell me too.
