Default tranny problems

This past weekend i noticed that when i shift into 2nd and get on it a lil bit then car revs up then feels like it starts to go. I think it is the clutch slipping but i just want to know. I tryed turning on and off my over drive just to see if it was it but it seems to do the same. Oh so you will know it a 87 l98 with 4+3 tranny any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Start saving. I had the same problem and needed to have the transmission rebuilt.

how long do you think it will last. when i said it revs then feels like it starts to go. I meant you drive change to 2nd and when u let off the clutch and into the gas it revs up then the tranny seems to catch in which it the car takes off. but this is only when you get on it hard. also would you think it would be easier to just bite the bullet and go ahead and swap to a 6spd. tranny. let me know.

Those symptoms sound like a clutch as well. If you can't do it yourself, have someone look at it. When mine started slipping, it went downhill fast and I wound up driving 30 miles or so without the clutch. Not fun. You don't want to get stranded. Whether it's the clutch or tranny, don't chance trying to drive on it awhile.

It isn't that i can't do the clutch its having to money to get the clutch right away. and it sucks being as this is my daily driver as of right now. i just didn't know if it was the clutch or not being as when i drive it normal it drives fine no problems. its just when i get in to the gas,(for those split erges to just, as i say, "hit it one time"). looks like i need to start pricing a clutch for the time being and baby it until i can get one to put in it.

Don't run it any longer than you have to. Discs are aren't too expensive,
pressure plates are.

There is SOME chance of a problem in the O/D unit causing the same symptom, but the clutch is more likely. Check (or change) the fluid in the O/D first.

then:

Replace the clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, & pilot bushing. Have the flywheel resurfaced if it is not perfect. If you keep driving it you will damage the flywheel.

If the disc looks OK when removed, start looking for a good trans shop. The O/D is basicly an auto trans.
