Default LH Headlight problem

Hi All,

Happy Fourth of July to the entire Forum and their loved ones. Please enjoy driving your All American sports car during the holiday.

I have a headlight door problem. Simply put, the LH door will not open. If I open it manually it will close. I do not have the factory manual so I can't get at the trouble shooting info but my wiring diagram shows relays for each light and some kind of isolation relay. The headlamp works just fine. I disconnected the motor harness and rotated the headlight to the full up position. I now have both headlights but I also have a one eyed Vette. I had similar problems with my Fiero GT.

I think it is the LH motor relay. Any other observations or repair links would be appreciated.

Happy Forth.

Try this! It's probably your headlight bushings not allowing it to function or stay put and or open up!

There are many other articles here check'em out and have fun! Read the article a few times while waiting for the parts to show up and you'll be ready to do it when they arrive!

Thanks,Matt

Default Headlight isolation relay

MadMatt,
My 1986 C-4 auto headlights still will not come up. I do the hand crank and they will suddenly go back down, so there is Juice there. I disassebled the headlights motors, and the gears look great, I cleaned the points. I replaced the headlight isolation relay and Nothing. This is the Corvettte where I find alligater clips going to everything. There is juice going to the isolation relay, but nothing going to the headlights. The headlights come on, but not up and I am at wits end. Like I may just say screw it and take it to Lynwood Auto electric. They said in the book, "every spliced wire you see in your Corvette, deduct $500 from the price of the car. The former owner owes me money, too bad he died. Can't give it back.
Any advise besides a garage fire?

What year is your Corvette? C4's utilized two different headlight motor designs during their model run..
