Hello, getting ready to change my brake lines on my '96. I think the concensus from the board for SS lines was Earl's. So, I went to summit last night to price them. While there, I looked at the rotors. Summit has two of there brands of rotors on the site that I'm thinking about ordering. One is cross-drilled with silver cadmium plating; the other one is cross drilled and slotted, but comes natural. My question is, if I'm going to buy one I should get the coated ones, rights. Isn't that the coating that keeps them from rusting. Also, does anyone have any experience with summit rotors. The other rotors they were selling are powerslots, so I'm assuming the Summit rotors are the same thing. Give me your thoughts.
I bought a set of drilled powerstop rotors from summit 6-7 years ago. The gold cad plating has held up well. No problems to report with these rotors, they have been on the car ever since.
They still look good, I just replaced the front pads last sunday.
The silver cad plated powerslots on my pickup on the other hand have not fared as well, and are rusting. This is most likely due to Michigan winter driving and road salt exposure that the vette rarely if ever encounters.
I'm assuming the summit brand is probably the power slots because that is other brand they advertised. There is a $30+ difference between the two and why pay a difference if they are the same thing. Might have to look more closely at the powerstop.
