Coolant Leak
96 CE LT1 shows coolant on the crossmember and floor at front of engine. That is the only coolant I see. I felt under the water pump as far as I could, and it seems to be dry. Yesterday it showed " Low Coolant". Is it likely the water pump is leaking and it could not be seen? The car has 97k miles. Any ldeas would be appriceated.

I just finished this problem with my 96'. Do a radiator pressure test to 15 lbs. and this will show you where the coolant is leaking from. I have 114000 miles and my water pump went.
First it was a drip, the next day it was a few onces and the next day it was a lot. Find the leak and get it fixed.
Go to AutoZone and they will pressure test the system. Good luck.

I kept seeing streaks of coolant on the underside of the hood where the belt was throwing it. It wasn't there all the time so my WP wasn't leaking all the time. I ended up replacing the WP with an electric one, flushed out my anti-freeze, replaced some hoses & all the clamps along with the intake gaskets.
